Treetop is a parser generator that makes it super simple to prototype new languages. Within just a few minutes you can have a parser that is capable of telling you whether a particular sentence is grammatically valid or not.

Yesterday Anson and I prototyped an entire interpreter in 20 minutes. Granted, it was only a calculator, but it was an interpreter nonetheless.
